A matter of hours
This past weekend has been fantastic! On friday we had a farewell party at our place and although there was no furniture and the walls echoed like crazy, it felt like home for one last evening. The evening was full of laughter, good food and lots of drinks and reminded us of just how lucky we are and how many wonderful people we have in Finland to come back to in a couple of years! Fittingly, we celebrated our departure on Canada Day, which was topped off by a very patriotic cake courtesy of Reeta!
Yesterday we spent a very nice day in Gumbostrand with Joonas’ family. Joonas’ parents live by the sea so we had coffee and cake on their pier and went swimming from the sauna. In the evening we had dinner on their patio surrounded by this summer’s worst thunderstorm. Today we’re headed for lunch with my family and then it’s home to zip up our bags, lock our suitace and take out the trash, one last time!
Our flight leaves in 20 hours, and the closer it gets the crazier it feels! Can you believe it, we’re moving to Canada!
I’m crazy excited and a little bit nervous, but most of all, I feel grateful. Grateful for all of our wonderful friends and family. Grateful for all of the well-wishes and encouragement. And grateful for this oppurtunity for Joonas and I to spread our wings and soar. We will miss everyone here more than I think we can even comprehend at the moment, but thankfully friendships aren’t tied to time and distance! So, until we meet again, be safe, be happy and reach for the stars!
