Uuden vuoden terveiset Maijulta:
Ennen joulua sain sähköpostin Katyltä. Osalle Katy ei sano varmaan yhtään mitään. Katy työskentelee Duran Duranin organisaatiossa. Hän pitää duranduran.com -faniyhteisössä kuukausittain kahvitauon jonkun jäsenen kanssa. Jutustelevat niitä näitä. Lisäksi Katy pitää Simon Le Bonin kanssa WHOOOSH koronaradiota. Nyt jo kahtena vuonna peräkkäin. Se on Simonin korona-ajan projekti.
Ensimmäisenä korona vuonna kommentoin paljon erillaisia Duran-juttuja sosiaalisessa mediassa. Oli se sitten tämä WHOOOSH, Rogerin Desert island discs tai Johnin Stone Bass Oddysey tai Nickin projektit. Kerroin, missä milloinkin olin ja mitä pidin kyseisestä projektista. Pidin kommentit positiivisina ja iloisina. Halusin kertoa myös omasta ympäristöstäni, minkä osa koki varmaan outona, mikäli minun kommenttini huomasi. Yleensä kommentit huomattiin. Osa YouTuben kommenteista oli varustettu harmaalla pohjalla, jossa lukee teksti ”korostettu kommentti”. Joskus tuli joltain peukkuja tai jopa sydämiä.
Mikäli joku ei tiedä, Rogerin Desert Island Discs on YouTube -videosarja, jossa hän esittelee hänelle tärkeitä levyjä. Yhdessä vilahtaa Rogerin nuorin poika Julian. Stone Bass Oddysey taas on Johnin basso tutorial projekti. Hän kertoo siinnä, miten tietyt kappaleet ovat rakentuneet ja kappaleitten taustoja. Jokaisen jakson jälkeen oli vielä noin tunnin mittainen jutustelu jonkun muusikkoystävän kanssa, Billy Idol ja Susan Hoffs mainitalkseni.
Oli siis yllätys, että olin voittanut faniyhteisön arvonnan. Toki, kun Katy kysyi postitusosoitettani, laitoin sen hänelle. Before Christmas, I received an e-mail message from Katy. For those who Katy is unknown, kindly notice that Katy has been working for Duran Duran organisation for long and still does. Once in a month she keeps a coffee break with the band members in duranduran.com’s fan community. Every member has its own break. Katy is also responsible for WHOOOSH radio program together with Simon. It is a two years old tradition now and it is Simon’s hobby during the covid-19 times.
During 2020 I did comment a lot Duran Duran topics on social media wether it was about WHOOOSH, Roger’s Desert Island discs or John’s Stone Bass Oddysey or Nick’s projects. In my comments, I shared my thoughts on those peojects and alao shared my location. My comments were always positive and cheerful. I wanted to tell about things around me as well which may seem strange to some people. In general, my comments were noticed. Some of my comments in You Tube were highlighted with grey background with the text ”highlighted comment” . Sometimes I received Likes and heart shaped emojis.
If you have not heard about the boy’s projects before, let me clarify. Roger’s Desert Island Discs is a You Tube series where Roger introduces albums important to him. In one of the video Roger’s son Julian is included. Stone Bass Odyssey is John’s bass tutorial project. In the videos, John demonstrates how certain songs are constructed and plays bass lines for the songs. In the end of every video, John has also added an hour long conversation with his friends. Once it was Billy Idol and once it was Susan Hoffs included, for instance.
So, what a surprise it was when Katy messaged me stating I had won something from a DD fan community’s lottery. Of course I gave immediately my postal address to Katy as soon as she asked for it. I must admit I have messaged Katy several times before. I have sent birthday and holiday wishes for the band members through Katy as I do not have my social media accounts left anymore as I closed them down. On the Christmas week, I also sent Christmas greetings to Katy and her family. I only know Katy’s voice, it is very common to me.
Tomorrow it is New Year’s Eve. As far as I know, Duran Duran are in USA and there will be Duran live on CNN channel.
