But it appears Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder can be separated despite being very much in the honeymoon phase of their marriage.

And the 27-year-old proved it when she was photographed on her own at the launch of Bonnie Rose whiskey in Nashville on Monday night.

he Twilight star looked smashing in a black and white mesh patterned sleeveless pencil dress and white heels, having lost about 160lbs, albeit temporarily.

But her besotted husband and fellow ’vampire’ wasn’t about to let her out of his sight for too long.

When asked by E! News to share the sexiest thing he first sees when he wakes up in the morning, he replied: ’My wife.’

’The most beautiful human being in the world,’ the 36-year-old gushed. ’I’m the luckiest man on the planet.’

And it’s not just each other the two actors are hopelessly in love with either.

’There’s a lot of passion in our house. Nikki’s incredible,’ he continued. ’She’s turned the house into an animal rescue for years – that’s what she’s done. Selflessly, literally giving her resources and her home and her family’s time and her time to saving animals in need.

’It’s actually quite extraordinary. We actually have nine animals at home—four dogs, three cats and two horses.’

The couple, who got married in April after just nine months of dating, spent the weekend arm in arm at Comic-Con in San Diego.

Not at Vampire Diaries panel was Ian’s ex girlfriend of over two years Nina Dobrev, who left the show at the end of season six.
