Tiistaina lähtisi lento kohti Japania. Huomenna pitäisi varmaan tehdä päätös, uskaltaako matkalle lähteä vai pitääkö lentoja ja hotelleja alkaa perumaan.

Reissua on suunniteltu kuukausia ja rahaa säästetty vielä useita kuukausia enemmän. Tällä hetkellä Finnair on luvannut, että 13.-14.3. lähtevät lennot voi peruuttaa ilman lisämaksua. Meidän lentomme lähtee 15. päivä. Jos ei tarvitsisi miettiä lainkaan rahaa niin luultavasti peruisin matkan. Toisaalta tätä taukoa töistä ja lopputyön teosta on odotettu pitkään. Jos lomaa ei tule nyt niin ei sille varmasti ole aikaa enään ennen kesää.

Tietysti Japanin ahdinko on kokonaisuudessaan järkyttävä, mutta kyllä siihen suhtautumiseen on tullut uusi henkilökohtainen aspekti. BBC ja streamina Japanista tulevat uutiset ovat olleet taustalla auki koko viikonlopun. Jännitys Japanilaisten puolesta on  värittynyt myös jännityksestä omaa reissua kohtaan. Katsellaanpa mitä huomenna tapahtuu ja miten reissumme käy..

We have a flight to Japan on Tuesday. Tomorrow we should probably make a decision whether to go or to cancel the flights and the hotels.

We have been planning the trip for months and saving money for it even more months. Finnair has promised that passengers having flights on 13.-14.3. can cancel their flight without additional fees. Our flight is on the 15th. If I wouldn’t have to think about money, I would probably cancel the trip. On the other hand, if we can’t go now, the next possibility to have a break is somewhere in the summer because of my work and my diploma work schedule.

Of course the whole tragedy in Japan is horrifying but there has been a personal aspect to the tragedy. BBC and live-stream from Japan have been in the background the whole weekend. Suspense for the people in Japan has been coloured with anxiety for our own trip. Let’s see what happens tomorrow and what happens to our trip…
