Vacation, take two

Ensi viikon ajan löydät minut tuosta. Ihan vaan tiedoksi, jos tulee asiaa.

Paljon odotettu Japanin matka meni pieleen maanjäristyksen, tsunamin ja räjähtelevien ydinvoimaloiden takia. Muutenkin elämä on viime aikoina ollut hieman vastavirtaan uimista. Mm. ulkoinen kiintolevyni hajosi yllättäen. Kiintolevyllä oli ainoa kopio lopputyöstäni, jota olen työstänyt viimeiset neljä kuukautta. Sain kuitenkin kuulla eilen tiedonpalautusfirmalta, että tiedostot saadaan palautettua 620€ vaatimattomaan hintaan. Eli olen todellakin loman tarpeessa!

Jonnekin on pakko päästä, mielellään johonkin täysin kotioloista poikkeavaan paikkaan. Siispä otettiin äkkilähtö Thaimaahan. Matkalta odotan aurinkoa, ihanaa ruokaa, halpoja drinksuja ja vähän shoppailua. Määränpäänä on Phuket ja Karon Beach. Rokotukset on otettu ja aurinkokapseleiden syönti aloitettu jo viikko sitten eli ei muuta kuin odotetaan sunnuntaita ja lähtöä!

The much anticipated trip to Japan was cancelled because of the earthquake, tsunami and exploding nuclear power plants. My life has been one difficulty after another lately. To give you an example, my portable hard disk broke. The disk contained the only copy of my diploma work, which I have been working on for the past four months. Yesterday I got a message from the firm trying to fix the hard disk saying they can restore the file for a moderate price of 620€. So I am in desperate need for a vacation!

We had to get somewhere completely different from home. Hence we booked a last minute trip to Thailand. I am looking forward for the sun, lovely food, cheap drinks and a little bit shopping. Our destination is Phuket and there Karon Beach. I have had all the necessary vaccinations and started taking sun capsules already a week ago to help me tan. Now we just wait for Sunday and our flight to Thailand.
