Eating out abroad, in Tampere
A good talk. A bit of wine. Yes, we did have that, but the table next to us had been having them for some time already when we arrived at a restaurant called Frankly in Tampere.
I was visiting my oldest friend there and I took her out to dinner. The crêpes and aubergine steaks appeared on our plates, and so did a party of two middle-aged men next to us. I started listening – wait, this language sounds too familiar! And yes, they were from Switzerland, blurring out words in the Swiss German accent that gave me good giggles during the year spent with Swiss friends in Paris. It has words like Schoggistängeli, for chocolate bar of course.
Anyway, the conversation was lively – to a point that it was hard to concentrate on ours. There was passionate talk, from what I could understand, about relationships and women.
And for that I wanted to thank the men. Thank you for happening to sit next to us randomly in a restaurant in Finland. Yes, that is what a dinner at a restaurant should be like!
Ps. Just googled schoggistängeli. For example this came up. Not so useless as a travel guide!
