Helsinki in my mind
What better way to spend the couple first days after landing back in Finland than to adventure around the capital.
Returning from Paris, I wheeled my luggage, altogether probably closer to my own weight, to a friend’s place.
First on the weekend’s program was a brunch at a place called Dylan. Although my brunching history doesn’t go far back, this one I have to mention since it’s been the best one so far!
In the company of two worldly and wise ladies, I headed to check out a street festival in Punavuori (read: guaranteed hipster area) with its second hand market stands and musicians. I read an article comparing the street culture of Helsinki was to Berlin. Hmm.
The weather still trying to decide if it’s on our side, we walked towards the south of Helsinki.
This city seems to get me every time – now it was the street lamps that reminded me of Berlin. At least there the comparison is no wonder.
Sniffing around the fun home stuff at Moko.
Sunday the sun finally came out, and we went for a picnic at Seurasaari. How weird it was to suddenly be in a city surrounded by water, or where you could see things so far in the horizon!
All in all a refreshing weekend. I left feeling I had one more place I had to come back to. Like all adventurous women do, right?
