Picnic reading
I don’t read that much, and so it’s sometimes very like me to go for the easy road and look up a book in the library based on its recommendation in a women’s magazine. Especially in the summer.
This is what I’ve started reading on sunny days in the park. Rules of Civility, translated in Finnish as Seuraelämän säännöt, by Amor Towles (I mean, come on, did his parents name him knowing he’d be a writer?). With compliments from the author of One day on the first page, it can’t be anything but made for a light reader like me.
Plus, the description of the book includes words like conversations, gin martinis, jazz bands and silk stockings. And it takes place in New York. In the 30’s.
Hooray women’s magazines summer book reviews, I say!
