All You Need Is Coffee and Warm Socks
Kiitokset rakkaalle mummolle, joka jaksaa vuodesta toiseen neuloa villasukkia tumpelon tyttärentyttären jalkojen lämmikkeeksi.
There is one thing I absolutely cannot exist without…wool socks. Seriously. My circulation is crap, or more like non-existent in my toes and fingers. I’m that person you see wearing gloves in the summer if it gets cold outside.
So wool socks are a must accessory for me, especially in the winter. Without them, I’d probably have no toes anymore.
Luckily for me, I have an awesome gran, who helps me to keep my toes warm through the long winter. The woman is approaching ninety and still keeps on knitting socks and mittens. You just have to admire that.
Unfortunately, the skill did not pass on to me. Or maybe I just haven’t tried hard enough. Let’s just say, I have some minor traumas.
The last time I tried to knit was at high school and it ended with tears. I’m not even exaggerating. I was actually crying while trying to knit those damn mittens. Correction: mitten. I never finished the other one. I even have a photo to prove it. Thanks mom.
And no, I’m not showing it.
I should probably try to get over it. After all, I am now a grown woman. How hard could it be?
Yeah, right.
So to anyone who actually manages to knit these things, with pretty patterns and all, I genuinely admire your skills and patience. I sure as hell don’t have either.
And most importantly, thank you gran.
