Silly Childhood Crushes

A couple of days ago, I was taking a little trip down memory lane and ended up thinking about all the various TV series I used to watch as a kid. The range was quite wide, from Doctor Snuggles to Knight Rider to Lovejoy. A strange mix of shows, or what?

This then lead me tumbling down the rabbit hole of old childhood crushes….Fictional, that is. I’m pretty sure I had a crush on the boy next door, and the door after that, but I can’t even remember their names now. All I remember is ”Ewww, girls! Cooties!”

Anyway, enough about my childhood traumas. Let’s get on with the crushes that I can actually remember. All three of them. Spoiler alert: the last one is going to leave you stumped.

Editor’s note: Yes, I was born in the ’80s.

1. David Hasselhoff in Knight Rider

I was about five or six and thought he was the coolest thing ever. I mean, come on, a man with a leather jacket and a cool car that could talk! What could possibly top that?! And that’s pretty much all I could understand about the show at the time.

To be fair though, I think I mainly wanted my very own KITT – the talking car. How cool would have that been?!

Nowadays, I’m not so keen on Hasselhoff, but I’d still take KITT in a heartbeat

2. Richard Dean Anderson in MacGyver

I just, basically, wanted to be MacGyver and make cool stuff out of nothing. Every time the theme song started to play, I ran off to fetch a pen, some gum and paper clips and pretended to build a bomb or something. I, still, have the same urge, whenever I hear the song.

The things that man could do with a paper clip. Exciting stuff for a six-year-old me and serious crush material.

3. Stephen Fry in Jeeves & Wooster

I have no explanation for this. Seriously, none. Except that I was a strange little girl.

All my friends were going gaga over the New Kids On The Block guys, and I had a crush on a British butler, who used phrases like:”Good heavens, sir.” Inexplicable.

In hindsight, I think this could explain all my current dating woes.

Consequently, to this day, the only celebrity sighting that has caused me to let out a tiny scream, was Stephen Fry in London. That should tell you all you need to know about me.

So how about you?

Mitä yhteistä on Ihmemies MacGyverilla, Ritari Ässällä ja Jeevesillä?

Lapsuuden fiktiiviset ihastukset saattavat joskus hämmentää itseäkin.
