Happy Little Accidents
Exhibit C
A gingham dress
Cute. Girly. Pink. In excellent condition for a second hand dress. And yet…
Case history
The accused found the Pola dress in a flea market years ago and thought it was adorable. So girly. So pink. So not her.
It reminded her of a dress she had as a kid. In hindsight, even the accused might admit, this should have been a warning sign. The warning sign of all warning signs.
Never buy a dress that you probably wore a version of, when you were five…As you are not five anymore.
The dress, also, had a retro feel to it, which obviously lured the accused in like the pathetic fool she is.
And it was made in Finland – by a Finnish company – so practically a piece of history to be preserved.
Despite all this, the accused has not worn the dress once. Not once. It has been hidden in her closet for…ooh…about 7 years or more. SEVEN YEARS…or more. The accused, apparently, has issues with letting go of things.
Verdict
Nostalgic dolt.
Sentence
As it turns out, gingham is coming back with a vengeance. Hence, the accused has her final chance to wear the dress this summer.
If the terms are not met, she shall take the dress to the nearest charity shop and be rid of it.
