”I get ideas about what’s essential when packing my suitcase.

Diane von Furstenberg

Matkustaminen on kivaa. Pakkaaminen ei. The end.

Tai ei ihan. Tällä kertaa allekirjoittanut yrittää toimia fiksusti ja suunnitella etukäteen toimivia asukokonaisuuksia Lontoon matkaa varten.

In a couple of weeks, I’m off to London for five days, which means I’ll soon be engrossed in an activity that I despise…packing.

I hate it…because I rarely get it right. Okay, I never get it right. Especially, on the clothing front. I always have too much stuff with me, and yet, miraculously, manage to lack some vital piece.

This is mainly due to the fact that I rarely plan my clothing options in advance. I just grab what feels best at the moment. I try to look for garments that work together, but, invariably, stray from the chosen path.

Just a little glimpse into my ridiculous thought process while packing.

I absolutely need that green shirt and those striped jeans with me. They go with nothing, but I can’t live a day without them. Ooh, that shirt would look good. With what? Who cares. I’ll pack it anyway. Oh, and let’s not forget about that vest…

This is not, as you might imagine, the best way to pack economically. In the end, I have a bunch of clothes that don’t go together and look like crap.

But not this time. This time I shall be wiser.

I have already started the elimination process and chosen a few basic pieces that I can combine – and hopefully look great in.

Who am I kidding. I’ll settle for tolerable.

Here are my current top choices. All of these would be combined with black jeans.

A light pink blazer (Seppälä), a grey T-shirt (Cubus) and a statement necklace (flea market).

The same T-shirt and necklace with a denim shirt (Levi’s).

The denim shirt with another grey T-shirt (Lindex).

That’s four outfits with five pieces of clothing. In my case that is a freaking miracle. Now, if only I could contain myself from making any last minute changes.

Like that’s ever going to happen.

Better Sore Than Sorry

Maanantai ja motivaatio(n puute). Osa 1574. Miten repiä itsensä ylös sohvalta, kun ei yhtään huvita?

Monday motivation (Part 1574).

I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather for a couple of weeks, which has put a stop to my usual exercise routine. Even though, it’s good to take a break, now and then, getting back to business can occasionally be a bit of a challenge. Especially, on Mondays.

I know what I have to do. I know I’ll feel great after my boxing class. But I still want to stay on the couch watching my DVD set of the Originals.

So very very tempting.

But as the shirt above says: Better sore than sorry.

And yes, I do realise I’m now taking life lessons from shirts.

Pathetic.

Top, Stadium

To get me in the right mood, I think I’ll put this song on constant repeat for the next hour or two.

All I do is win, win, win no matter what.

I dare you to stay on the couch listening to this.
