2. week

On Wednesday we had our first lesson of Adventure Tourism, in which we go out and adventure (as the module’s name might suggest) instead of sitting in the classroom. We took the bus and went to the other side of the Lough Gill to Ard Nahoo Eco Retreat. There we had a tour around the property and an introduction of their business. We also had another business introduction from Adventure Gently, which offers guided canoeing tours. Our main activity for that day was, however, yoga. 30 minutes of beginner-friendly asanas and relaxation.

Noora had already felt a bit ill on Wednesday morning, but come Thursday she was feeling even more ill and stayed home for both Thursday and Friday, only to be accompanied by Siru, who also fell ill. By Friday evening Noora was feeling better, so she decided to join the other Sligo girls for French night at Camille’s. On the menu there was cheese, Gratin de pomme de terre with chicken and tea accompanied by grapes.

By Saturday morning Siru was feeling better, except for the fact she had no voice. Nevertheless we decided to go shopping with the girls. In the evening we agreed to go to the Lillies pub, which had live music that night.

Ladies at Lillies

We had great plans to go to Mullaghmore on Sunday, but as the weather failed us, our plans went down the drain. With Camille and Elisa we made new plans to go to the Model, the contemporary art center of Sligo. We saw part of the The Niland Collection, which is presented on a rotation basis and Mark Clare’s exhibition “I Believe In You”. The art center was pretty small, so it didn’t take too long to take the tour around it and we all agreed that the exhibition we saw was nothing special. After our weekly cultural dose we took a stroll over and along the river to buy some groceries, from which we cooked some lunch together.
