Peruukin osto-opas osa 1: Valmistelut
Mikäli harkitset peruukin ostoa kenties aiemmasta artikkelistani>> innostuneena tai ne kiinnostavat muuten vain, tämä juttu on sinulle. Peruukit ovat mahtavia, mutta juuri sitä oman näköistä peruukkia ei ole aina helppo löytää. Peruukkityyppejä, peruukkien pohjaratkaisuja sekä malleja on useita, ja kaikki peruukit eivät sovi kaikille. Siksi peruukin hankinta on oma taiteenlajinsa, jos minulta kysytään. 🎭🎨🤓 Toki peruukin voi ostaa vain kävelemällä sisään ensimmäiseen peruukkiliikkeeseen ja ostamalla sieltä itselleen tarjonnan sopivimman peruukin. Itsekin tein näin ensimmäisen peruukin kohdalla, mutta se ostos ei ollut napakymppi. Se mm. hankasi, kutitti ja kerran lensi päästäkin tanssiessani. Olen kuitenkin oppinut viimeisten neljän vuoden aikana peruukeista valtavasti lisää ja viimeisin peruukkiostokseni tuntui juuri omaan peruukkitarpeeseeni oikealta.
Jotta onnistuisit mahdollisimman hyvin ensimmäisessä tai seuraavassa peruukkiostoksessasi, kokosin alle tiiviin tietopaketin peruukin hankinnan tueksi omiin kokemuksiini perustuen. Tällä pääsee hyvin alkuun. Nautitaan peruukkien tuomista mahdollisuuksista! 😎
Ennen peruukin ostoa sinun on hyvä valmistautua seuraavasti:

☝ Tutustu eri peruukkityyppeihin ja sovita rauhassa ennen peruukin ostamista
Ymmärrä yksilölliset tarpeesi peruukille
Peruukkeja on laidasta laitaan ja samalla niiltä odotettavissa olevat ominaisuudet sekä hinta vaihtelevat runsaasti. Siksi on tärkeää ymmärtää, mihin käyttötarkoitukseen peruukkia on hankkimassa ja kuinka usein sitä luultavasti tulee käyttämään. Tuletko käyttämään peruukkia vain kerran työpaikan juhlissa vai tuleeko se päivittäiseen käyttöön tai ehkä viikonloppujen hulluttelutukaksi? Kirkasta tämä itsellesi, niin tiedät mistä lähteä etsimään peruukkia.
Maksusitoumus
Mikäli olet hankkimassa peruukkia avuksi hiustenlähtöön, suosittelen sinua varaamaan sitä ennen ajan terveyskeskuslääkärille tai ihotautilääkärille, jotta hiustenlähdön syy selviää. Sairauden takia hiuksensa menettäneelle peruukki on lääkinnällisen kuntoutuksen apuväline, jota varten saa maksusitoumuksen sairaalasta tai terveyskeskuksesta. Eri sairaanhoitopiirien käytänteet ovat kuitenkin kirjavia, joten myös peruukkeihin saatavien maksusitoumuksien käytänteet vaihtelevat. Joissain sairaanhoitopiireissä peruukin voi hankkia maksusitoumuksella vain tietystä valikoimasta. Toisissa henkilö voi ostaa kalliimman peruukin maksamalla välisumman itse. Mikäli kaipaat apua tai näkemystä yksilölliseen tilanteeseesi, esimerkiksi Allergia-, iho- ja astmaliitto >> sekä alopeciayhdistykset >> tarjoavat mm. vertaistukea.
Tutustu eri peruukkityyppeihin ja sovita niitä rauhassa
Peruukit voi jakaa karkeasti kolmeen eri kategoriaan, jotka sopivat eri tilanteisiin. Ne ovat:
1) naamiaisperuukit
2) keinokuituperuukit
3) aitohiusperuukit.
Naamiaisperuukit
Naamiaisperuukit ovat peruukeista halvimpia ja niitä saa ostettua naamiaiskaupoista. Ne ovat kivoja naamiaisissa tai muissa karkeloissa, joissa haluaa säväyttää eri tyylillä, eikä haittaa, jos muut tietävät, että käytät peruukkia. Ne ovat usein edullisia (10-30€), mutta eivät sovellu jokapäiväiseen käyttöön, sillä ne eivät ole kestäviä eivät tunnu mukavilta päässä.
Naamiaisperuukkien hyvät ja huonot puolet:

👍 hyvä hupikäyttöön
❗ ei kestä päivittäistä käyttöä
❗ huomaa helposti, että on peruukki
❗ huono käyttömukavuus
Keinokuituperuukit
Keinokuituperuukit ovat hyvä vaihtoehto myös pidempään käyttöön. Ne pysyvät yleensä hyvinä päivittäisessä käytössä n. puoli vuotta ja soveltuvat hyvin myös ”viikonlopputukiksi”. Keinokuituperuukit näyttävät aidoilta ja säilyttävät hyvin muotonsa sekä värinsä. Ne ovat helppohoitoisia, kevyitä sekä aitohiusperuukkeja edullisempia (peruukkiliikkeistä ostettaessa n. 200€-1000€). Keinokuituperuukin ”hiukset” eivät ole aitoa ihmisen hiuksia, vaan ne on valmistettu keinokuidusta eli eri muoveista.
Ensimmäiset kaksi peruukkiani ovat olleet keinokuituperuukkeja ja ne soveltuivat hyvin perehdytykseksi peruukkien maailmaan. Kun ostat keinokuituperuukin, tiedät, mitä saat. Keinokuituperuukkeja saa ostettua peruukkiliikkeistä sekä internetistä. Mikäli ostat ensimmäisiä peruukkejasi, suosittelen käymään vähintään lähimmässä peruukkiliikkeessäsi sovittelemassa eri malleja, jotta peruukkien maailma tulee tutuksi. Peruukkivalikoima vaihtelee suuresti myymälöittäin, ja siksi on hyvä käydä useammassa. Näin saat kuvan siitä, millaisia eri vaihtoehtoja on olemassa ja millainen malli sopii sinulle.
Keinokuituperuukkien hyvät ja huonot puolet:

Aitohiusperuukit
Yleisesti ottaen aitohiusperuukit ovat peruukeista kalleimpia, mutta ovat myös pitkäkestoisimpia ja tarjoavat myös eniten peruukin muokkausmahdollisuuksia. Aitohiusperuukkeja saa sekä mittatilaus- että valmisperuukkeina. Ne on valmistettu aidosta hiuksesta ja usein solmittu käsin.
Aitohiusperuukkien hyvät ja huonot puolet:
👍 usein luonnollisimman näköinen
👍 helposti muokattavissa (esim. hiusta voi värjätä, leikata ja muotoilla helposti)
👍 istuvuus: paljon eri pohjavaihtoehtoja ja voi tilata mittatilauksena omille mitoille
👍 pitkäikäinen hyvin hoidettuna
👍 sopii myös herkkäihoisille

❗ vaativat hoitoa

Guide to buy a wig in Finland: Part 1 – Get familiar with different types of wigs
Considering of buying a wig in Finland? I spent the first 3 years of my wig life with wigs that didn’t really suit me and felt itchy, so I decided to share my learnings with you by writing this small guide for buying a wig in Finland. I want to emphasize that I’m not an expert, but a curious learner and an alopecian with a will to make a baldie life a bit easier for everybody. In this first part of the guide I will share some basic background information about wigs in order you to get a big picture of the world of the wigs and what is good to consider prior of buying a wig.

Before buying a wig, it is a good idea to consider the following items:

☝ Find out if you are eligible for “maksusitoumus” aka financial aid for your wig due to medical reasons
☝ Familiarize yourself with the different types of wigs and try them on before buying one
Understand your individual needs for wigs
There is a wide range of wigs with different features and price range. Therefore, it is important to understand for what purpose the wig is being procured and how often it will be used. Are you getting a wig for a workplace Christmas party or will you use it daily? When you understand your needs, you can easier define where to get one.
Financial aid for a wig
If you are thinking of purchasing a wig due to the hair loss, I recommend that you book an appointment with your local health center or a dermatologist to define the cause of hair loss. For a person who has lost their hair due to illness or a skin disease, a wig can be seen as a medical rehabilitation aid, and the city which you can get a commitment from a hospital or health center. However, the practices of different medical districts are varied, so the practices of commitments for wigs also vary. If you need help or insight into your individual situation, for example, the Allergy, Skin and Asthma Association >> and alopecia associations >> offer e.g. peer support.
Get to know the different types of wigs and fit them in peace
Wigs can be roughly divided into three different categories to suit different situations. They are:
1) costume wigs
2) synthetic hair wigs
3) human hair wigs.
Costume wigs
Costume wigs are the cheapest of the wigs and can be purchased at costume shops. They’re nice in masquerade parties or other events where you want to impress with a different hair style. The wigs are often inexpensive (€ 10-30) but unfortunately they are not suitable for everyday use as they are not durable nor too comfortable.
Pros and cons of costume wigs:
👍 affordable
👍 good for fun
❗ not suitable for everyday use
❗ easily noticeable as a wig
❗ poor comfort
Synthetic hair wigs
Synthetic hair wigs are a good option for both fun and for longer use. They usually remain good in daily use for about six months and are also well suited as “weekend outings”. Synthetic wigs look real and retain their shape and color well. They are easy to take care of, light and cheaper than human hair wigs. The synthetic wigs costs between 150€ and 1000€ in local Finnish wig stores. The wigs bought online are often cheaper, but the quality may vary.
My first two wigs were synthetic wigs and they worked well as an introduction to the world of wigs. When you buy a synthetic wig, you know what you’re getting. You can see the color, style and all at once. Synthetic hair is also easy to take care. They can be purchased from wig stores and online. If you are buying your first wigs, I recommend visiting at least your nearest wig store to try on different models to get familiar with the world of wigs. The wig selection varies greatly from store to store, so it’s a good idea to visit many. This will give you an idea of what the different options are and what model is right for you.
Pros and cons of synthetic wigs:
👍 easy to buy (you can be sure what you get)
👍 inexpensive compared to human hair wigs à affordable to try different styles
👍 light
👍 lots of shade options
👍 ethical
👍 easy to take care of
👍 retain the shape even if it winds or rains
❗ may not be suitable for sensitive / atopic skin
❗ only thermal synthetic wigs can be properly reshaped
❗ limited options in cap sizes and fits
❗ stays good for 6 around 6 months only in daily use
Human hair wigs
In general, the human hair wigs are the most expensive of the wigs, but they are also the most durable, can be styled in many ways, and offer the best fit for sensitive skin. Human hair wigs are available as custom and ready-made wigs. They are made of real hair and often knotted by hand.
Pros and cons of human hair wigs:
👍 often the most natural looking
👍 easy to modify (eg. hair can be easily dyed, cut, and styled)
👍 good fit: there are lots of different cap options which can also custom-made based on you own dimensions
👍 long-lasting
👍 also suitable for sensitive skin
❗ pricey
❗ harder to maintain
In addition to this, the suitability of the wig is affected by e.g. the cap of the wig (size, material), your own hair situation, and model of the wig. I will write more about these in the next part of the guide. Meanwhile, e.g. this >> might give you an idea how many wig types there is available.
