Tiny Globetrotter

We bought Kenzie this scratch map as part of her Easter basket this year. We’re hoping to give it to her when she is much older and has many more countries scratched out. So far, we’ve scratched off Finland (obviously), Estonia (Kenzie was 6 months old at the time and we went while my brother was in town visiting), Philippines (Kenzie has traveled to visit her grandmother twice, at 10 months old and 19 months old) and Croatia (where we spent our last summer vacation a few weeks before Kenzie turned one).

I was hoping to bring Kenzie stateside this summer (we were last there when I was pregnant, so I guess technically fetus Kenzie has been), but it looks like that won’t be happening until next year. She will no longer be considered a lap infant, so we will have to purchase her a child’s ticket and would have to plan this trip out to make the most of it and see various sights and experience new things. This summer is all about convenience, relaxation and a little bit of luxury- so we are looking at one of those package deals from Finnair where we don’t have to book everything separately. Maybe Cyprus or somewhere similar?

I have to say that Kenzie has been such a good flyer and usually sleeps through the long-haul flights! This picture was taken during her very first intercontinental flight (en route to Manila, Philippines!). She slept in the bassinet for almost the entire duration of the flight, despite being cramped up in it. This was the first and only trip that she was able to make use of the bassinet as she has since become too big for it. I was so nervous about flying solo with an infant that I had packed up little goody bags to bribe our seatmates.

I usually try and pick bedtime flights so that Kenzie will sleep, and thankfully, she’s been so great! She also LOVES to help pack (although her helping actually makes it more difficult at times) but I am so glad she is becoming a really good traveler at such a young age.

I am definitely looking forward to our upcoming trips and showing this little munchkin the world. My dad always believed that travel is one of life’s greatest experiences and I could not agree more. While traveling with a toddler (or kids in general) might not seem appealing to most – yes, I know, she probably won’t remember these trips yet… – I still think it is important to continue living and doing the things we enjoy. Kenzie might not have her own memories of these trips, but I will, and we have pictures to look back on and reminisce! :)

Does anybody out there have suggestions for upcoming holiday destinations? Or tips and tricks regarding traveling with toddlers? When should we plan on going to Disney??

I will end this post with a couple of photos taken in Dubrovnik, Croatia last August 2017. This trip was definitely one I will never forget. ♡♡
