90’s grunge, and health awareness
This post is dedicated to the late and great Chris Cornell. I did my best to create a grunge look. All the teenagers are so into grunge right now. Scroll down for the serious stuff.
Your mental wellbeing is at least as important as your physical body. You should do little things to improve or maintain your mood every day. Even the smallest things count.
If you have a problem with your mood or behaviour, you should always talk to a professional. It’s natural to be sceptical and think you don’t need help or that there is no genuine help. You will be surprised by how differently other people think, and how much they can help you.
Be nice to the people you appreciate. Make sure you tell them nice things so they know they’re appreciated and you’re not taking them for granted. If you need their support in anything, this is especially important. Again, the smallest things count!
Of someone always makes you feel bad, tell them to change their behaviour. You can do this without telling them how they make you feel. Just suggest a change of pattern, for example a new topic of conversation. If they just won’t change, avoid them. Don’t let them drain your resources.
Here are some recommendations for books I’ve found useful.
For those who can’t get things done: How to Manage Your Mammoth, The Procrastinator’s Guide to Getting Things Done, Wendy Jago.
For those who are too hard on themselves: The Compassionate Mind, Paul Gilbert. This is a very long book but you can find some material based on it that’s much more condensed. The theories from the book really helped me.
For almost anyone, especially those who feel they’re not in control of their lives and want to achieve more: Awaken the Giant Within, Anthony Robbins. Again, a very long book but easy to read. Anthony, or Tony Robbins, also has YouTube videos.
