A is for Airport Sleeping
To save up some money and time I sometimes sleep at airports. It is definitely not the nicest experience in the world, especially if you will be taking a long flight the next day: at least two sleepless nights and a jet-lag! However, memories fade and so I decided to sleep at Oslo Gardermoen on my way to the US. I am not particularly kitted out in terms of airport sleeping. You see lots of people with miniature air-mattresses, pillows and stuff. The best places are taken first so to avoid the freezing stone floors I try to map out sofas, chairs and cafes. I was told that in Oslo airport, there is a childrens play area with a soft flooring that makes an excellent mattress. However I could not find it so I set out for the second best: a cafe. All the cafes downstairs have leather sofas so I sneaked into this beauty: Peppes Pizza!
Not only I got an entire sofa to myself, the cafe was dark, warm and quiet. As an extra bonus it had plugs everywhere so I could charge my gadgets before the flight. Later at night the cafe became full as other travellers discovered it. Sometime around 5am the cleaners came, switching on the lights and making noice but noone told us to leave.
I often listen to music when sleeping in public places. This was my lullaby:
