Hi everyone! Good to be back after a little while 🙂
Everyone loves caramel squares. I do as well although I don’t eat them that often because they are so so sweet, but oh boy aren’t they so good when I do!
This was my first time making raw & healthy version of caramel slices. You can find lots of recipes for them online especially from american web sites and blogs. I used 3 different recipes for my caramel squares, one for each layer:
Base from the Irish Little Green Spoon-blog, caramel from the Finnish book & blog Kiitos Hyvää, and the top chocolate layer from the Australian Green Brick Road Health blog. Very international baking eh 🙂
My little caramel squares turned out great! They were also quite quick to make. To be completely honest; I personally don’t like too much the taste of dates. Then again my boyfriend was completely fooled by this ”fake” caramel and loved it. I just thought for me the sweetness of dates was a bit too much. I think it’s important to be hinest about these kind of things when you share recipes – some foods like banan, coconut, almond and dates have such distinctive taste that it’s only fare to give a little bit of ”warning”. So maybe have a small smell and taste of dates before and see if you like them 🙂
Here is the recipe, hope you enjoy baking them! xxx
