    Brunch at Pacifico

    Brunch at Pacifico

Put together food and a jamaican-influenced dj in a bar in Kallio, Helsinki on a weekend morning, and you have the best price-quality combo of brunches!     The only minus goes for the worst mini-croissants I’ve ever had. Trust me.

    Home is no Europe

A sneak peek to the new apartment I’ve been meaning to post something about.     After a month, I’m pretty much settled in. Arranging the books I dragged from France on my table to look sophisticated, putting my favourite 1950’s chair  and vinyl player carefully to their place, and throwing some pillows on the […]

    Those were the cake days

One afternoon you arrive at a friend’s place for the first time and you’re spoiled with a three-course lunch and chocolate cake. What follows is an opened women’s magazine, discussions about strange incidents, that somehow might or might not resemble the magazine’s contents, in a small kitchen with a huge pile of books on […]

    Picnic reading

    Picnic reading

I don’t read that much, and so it’s sometimes very like me to go for the easy road and look up a book in the library based on its recommendation in a women’s magazine. Especially in the summer. This is what I’ve started reading on sunny days in the park. Rules of Civility, translated in […]

    Well guess what, Helsinki

    Well guess what, Helsinki

Yippee is the word of the day! Seems that my hope of visiting Helsinki again is not only a hope for long. I just found out that I will be spending at least half of august there. After a weekend of flowing and listening to great bands at a festival, I get to see some films too – for […]

    Helsinki in my mind

    Helsinki in my mind

What better way to spend the couple first days after landing back in Finland than to adventure around the capital.   Returning from Paris, I wheeled my luggage, altogether probably closer to my own weight, to a friend’s place.       First on the weekend’s program was a brunch at a place called Dylan. Although my […]

From my Paris blog: Life cinematic

April brought me another visitor from Turku. We had planned to see the Paris in films: places that feature in some of our favourite movies. Maybe the most obvious thing was to look for the stairs that can get you to another era when sitting on them at midnight (Midnight in Paris). Turns out, we […]

From my Paris blog: Between friends, Saint-Germain

How could I forget walking along the streets of Paris? Well, appears I can’t, so I’ll move a post or two from my old blog here, voilà. //    As school is basically over, I have to say goodbye to Saint-Germain-des-Près, or at least going there that often. That has included more than a lot […]

What happens after a champagne year

What happens after a champagne year

Here we go. Time for my first post here on Lily, so I guess presentations are in order!   I decided to continue blogging after writing about my experiences during a year in Paris. It was more about letting friends know how things were going, and now I’m back in my Turku, where I’ll be continuing with […]
