Welcome to my muddy world

I’m excited to be here and to share (a bit nervous about it) my journey ”how to become a professional ceramist”. It might take me many years, but I’m ready!

I’ve been doing ceramics as a hobby for the past three years, but as the years went on I wanted to do more and more. Slowly the idea of making a living out of clay started to form in my head. So now I’m starting my two year ceramic studies in Forssa trade school.

I’m in my mid-thirties and I’ve been restless all my life, searching for my ”true calling”. I’ve studied design and typeface design, I’ve been working as graphic designer and illustrator. I’ve loved it all, but I still felt unfulfilled until I dug my fingers in clay. First it was just a stress-free hobby to balance my busy worklife, but in the end it transformed my life completely. So here I am, molding a new, exciting chapter into my life.

But what am I starting this blog for? I see my blog as a kind of work log. I tend to forget the details of my technical discoveries, so it works as a good reminder. The blog will also help me to see how I progress during these coming months, which is very important for me as a creative person. I know there will be total flops and hardship ahead, but I hope there will be more of those ”eureka!” moments and good times learning about ceramics. I’ll be posting photos of my works and it would be interesting to know what you think of them. From time to time I might write about other ceramists and artists whose work inspire me.

Let’s get muddy!
