Korvapuusti is the answer. Who cares what the question is….
After you’ve accidentally found this blog, most probably your first thoughts are: why the hell is somebody writing about Korvapuusti? I’ll fill you in…
Some of you may think I’m crazy, some might find the posts interesting and useful, but for me it is an opportunity to share my opinions and maybe find someone who shares my mania and obsession. Let me take a moment to tell you where it all started? It might sound weird, but the first time I’ve eaten Korvapuusti was in Great Britain. It was a random evening about a year ago, when I went to visit my coursemate in Bedford before a student party. My friend’s flatmate (my current suomalainen girlfriend) who I barely knew back then offered me my very first Korvapuusti. Since I never refuse food, I tasted it and it blew my mind, stomach and everything else at the same time (we joke a lot that actually I just love her ability to bake pulla and not really her but of course it is not true :P). After the party I came back with my friend to his house because it was late and there was no way I could get back to my house anymore. And that same silly Finnish lady had left the rest of her bakings on the kitchen table. They were all gone by the morning. Not my fault. Her fault for leaving them out in the open knowing that some tipsy students will be returning in the middle of the night…
Now I’m all happy in Finland, looking for a job and eating Korvapuusti whenever I want to. The idea for this blog was birthed today. Since my girlfriend knows and likes my pulla obsession, during our trip to Turku we stopped at a cafe and ordered Korvapuusti the size of my hand (and I have big hands). When I was finishing my bun (it did not took me more than 10 sec to it eat), she said ”you should make yourself useful and start rating them!”. And here we are…
